The Global Citizen Festival, on September 28, in Central Park became a memorable event when Ed Sheeran and Chris Martin surprised attendees with an unannounced acoustic set. Armed with their guitars, the duo delighted the crowd by kicking off with a heartfelt rendition of Coldplay’s Yellow, followed by a lively duet of Sheeran’s Shape of You. The unexpected collaboration showcased their incredible chemistry and brought an electrifying energy to the festival.
What was most appealing about this performance was the way it was showcased on their Instagram. The reel began with the two jamming backstage and slowly transitioned into the Central Park concert.
As the set progressed, Martin humorously paid homage to Dr. Jane Goodall during their performance of Viva la Vida, engaging the audience with playful monkey noises. The surprise performance concluded with a touching piano rendition of Sheeran’s Thinking of You. Initially slated only as a speaker, Martin’s appearance alongside Sheeran, who wasn’t part of the lineup, added a thrilling twist to the festival, leaving fans in awe of this iconic musical partnership.
