One of the most loved
romantic films made in Bollywood — Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam — is
celebrating 25-years today. The love triangle between Sameer (played by Salman
Khan), Nandini (played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and Vanraj (played by Ajay
Devgn), the direction of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and the music by Ismail Darbar
created a magic that lives on. The pathos and romance in the script makes the
1999 release a go-to film even today.
For anyone suffering a
heartbreak, KK’s soulful Tadap Tadap is still a solace to the soul. The
classical rendition of the song Albela Sajan, the dance number Nimbooda
Nimbooda, the heartbreak ballad Jhonka Hawaka, or the anthem for
selfless love — Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam — each song is a story in itself.
The celebration also
reminds us of the song Chand Chupa Badal Mein, and of Alka Yagnik — an
artiste par excellence who is currently battling with sensorineural hearing
loss. A lesser known fact but a much deserved shoutout must go to Anjan Biswas
for the unforgettable background music, and also to Anil Mehta for the
cinematography.
On the 25th anniversary
of the film, Bhansali Productions dropped unseen BTS glimpses from the shooting
on social media. From the making to a montage of the
scenes — the sneak peeks will
make you rewatch the film again.
You can watch the film
on Jio Cinema, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Google Play movies.
