After facing criticism for consecutive ducks in the first two T20s against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma silenced his detractors with an exceptional performance in Bengaluru. In a match that saw two ties and concluded with the second set of super overs, Rohit led India to victory, securing his 42nd win in T20Is as captain – the most by any Indian skipper.
Facing a challenging situation at 22-4 halfway through the 5th over, Rohit played a captain’s innings, scoring an unbeaten 121 in just 69 balls. His powerful display included eight towering sixes, taking his tally as the Indian captain to 90 – the highest for any skipper in the format.
Rohit’s resilience and selflessness were evident as he single-handedly ensured India avoided embarrassment. His extraordinary century marked his fifth in T20Is, making him the first player to achieve this feat in all three formats of the game.
For those who witnessed the match, it was a thrilling spectacle from start to finish. If you missed it, catch the highlights – it’s a rollercoaster ride you won’t want to miss. Rohit took to Instagram after his 5th T20I hundred, again the most by a batter, making him the first batter to have 5 tons in all 3 formats of the game. Check out Captain Ro’s post on Insta and leave a blue heart for our skipper.
