India’s Paralympics campaign has already gotten underway with four medals won on Day 2 of the Paris Paralympic games. In the R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle SH1 event, both Indians finished on the podium, with Mona Agarwal securing the bronze. The winner from Tokyo 2020, Avani Lekhara took the gold for the second time with a Paralympics record score of 249.7. Manish Narwal added a silver to the tally in the P1 Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 event. While the shooters were having fun hitting the bullseye, Preeti Pal brought home the bronze from the Women’s 100m T35 category finals, giving India the boost it needed for a record medal tally.
In Tokyo, India finished with 18 medals and given the start made by Avani Lekhara, Manish Narwal, Mona Agarwal and Preeti Pal, we are expecting even more medals from the contingent in Paris. My Kolkata extends its heartfelt congratulations to all four medallists as they get India off to a flying start in Paris.
