It’s Nabami already and we are already sad. No worries! Drive away the end of Durga Puja blues with something sweet but a little hatke from the usual sandesh and rashogolla. Check out Prithvish Chakravarti’s Durga Puja special dessert menu of Calcutta Stories. The maker of the delectable desserts recommends three picks for My Kolkata readers:
Bailey’s Bhapa Doi: “I’d choose Bailey’s Bhapa Doi first because it isn’t sweet. Doi is auspicious and traditional, and the subtle notes of the Irish cream elevates it to a level of dreaminess.”
Bailey’s Kheerer Singara: “This again is a very Bengali traditional sweet. We make a baked version with puff pastry and serve it hot off the oven. The twist is that the filling is Kheer and Bailey's Irish Cream and the outside is glazed. The crisp pastry is salted to cut through the sweetness.”
Salted Pistachio and Strawberry Jalousie: “Jalousie is French for our louvred windows, the kharkhari. This is a louvred puff pastry filled with a Strawberry and Salted Pistachio filling. Again, this is served hot with a scoop of cold Vanilla ice cream. The fire and ice combination is a classic crowd pleaser.”To order call/WhatsApp on +91 89810 99900
