The old buildings of South Kolkata have unparalleled personality, with every brick telling stories that span decades. Apart from the bustling markets at Gariahat, the area also comprises quieter neighbourhoods built during the second quarter of the 20th century, many of which are crumbling. One can find significant influence of the Art Deco style, along with the middle-class urban Bengal architecture which was prevalent from the 1930s to the 1960s.
In order to celebrate World Heritage Week, Calcutta Heritage Collective is organising a walk through these quintessential south Kolkata paras, culminating with a Moby’s Larder Heritage Brunch at The Zs’ Precinct. The menu will recreate culinary experiences from Kolkata’s classic restaurants that aren’t around anymore including Peliti, Firpo’s, and Maxim’s.
The charges are Rs 2,500 per person. To register, call or WhatsApp 9831041910.
