Salman Rushdie’s powerful memoir on the
life-threatening attack on him on August 12, 2022 is out now. The author has
titled the book Knife: Meditations After an Attempted Murder. Rushdie
was reportedly attacked in Chautauqua Institution in Chautauqua, in New York,
where he was present to deliver a lecture. The attack cost him an eye and the
use of a hand.
“This was a necessary book for me to write: a way
to take charge of what happened, and to answer violence with art” — said the
International Booker Prize awardee about the book to Penguin Random House. Knife
has been published by Random House on April 16, 2024.
