This Independence Day, let’s make a lasting impact on our planet
by planting a sapling — be it in your balcony or in the neighbourhood park.
It’s a meaningful way to honour our freedom while contributing to a healthier
environment for future generations. So, join the movement to fight pollution
and climate change by taking this simple but powerful step.
Here are some steps to follow:
- Choose a Native Tree or plant:
Select a species that is native to your region for better growth and
environmental benefits
- Prepare the Soil: Loosen
the soil and remove any weeds or debris to create a healthy environment
for the sapling
- Dig the Hole: Dig
a hole deep and wide enough to accommodate the roots, allowing them to
spread comfortably
- Plant the Sapling: Place
the sapling in the centre of the hole, ensuring that the roots are covered
with soil
- Water Thoroughly: Water
the sapling generously to help it settle and establish its roots
- Add Mulch: Apply
a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and protect the
sapling from weeds
- Regular Care: Continue
watering and caring for the sapling as it grows, ensuring it thrives and
contributes to the environment.
