This Diwali, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma treated his followers by sharing a live performance of his popular track Chanakya, in Mumbai, which is a part of his Sitar for Mental Health India Tour 2024. The song, which is featured on Sharma’s recent album Navaras, pays homage to Chanakya, the ancient advisor whose strategies helped Chandragupta defeat the Nanda dynasty. As the third release from the album, Chanakya draws on the Veer Rasa (heroic sentiment), blending traditional sounds to convey themes of bravery and perseverance, fitting for the Diwali season.
For this performance, Sharma was joined by Debjit Patitundi on tabla, Keith Peters on bass, Raghuraman on guitar, and Kutala Khan on khartal, combining instruments for a dynamic sound. The event also highlighted Sharma’s work with the 'Sitar for Mental Health' initiative, which he founded in 2021 to support mental wellness through Indian classical music. Partnering with mental health professionals, the initiative aims to promote mindfulness and emotional wellbeing through music.
