Global pop sensation
Dua Lipa thrilled Mumbai audiences during her Radical Optimism Tour on November
30 by performing the viral mashup Levitating x Woh Ladki Jo. Originally
created by Indian DJ and music producer Ruchir Kulkarni in 2021, the mashup
combines Lipa’s chart-topping hit Levitating with the Bollywood classic Woh
Ladki Jo from the film Badshah. The track has captivated audiences
worldwide, inspiring millions of social media reels and amassing over 20
million views on its extended YouTube version. Lipa’s high-energy performance
on the MMRDA Grounds not only showcased her global appeal but also highlighted
the cross-cultural power of music.
The concert,
Lipa’s second in Mumbai, featured an electrifying two-hour set that included
her biggest hits like New Rules, Dance The Night (from Barbie),
One Kiss, and Break My Heart. By seamlessly incorporating the
viral mashup into her show, Lipa paid a tribute to her Indian fans and the
track’s unique fusion of Western pop and Bollywood nostalgia. Ruchir Kulkarni,
a self-confessed Shah Rukh Khan fan, described the moment as the “greatest
achievement of my life”. The mashup’s inclusion in her set is a testament to
its resonance, proving that music can transcend boundaries and bring global
audiences together.
