Coke Studio Bangla Season 3 has
kicked off with a special focus on the talented textile artisans of Bangladesh.
The first song of the season, titled Tati, led by Coke Studio Bangla’s creative director
Shayan Chowdhury Arnob, brings together weaver Md. Gonjer Ali, Nigerian
musician Oli Boy and actress Jaya Ahsan for a unique musical collaboration.
Tati is a blend of three different songs and
features rhythmic verses sung by Jamdani weavers. The lyrics and visuals of the
song pay tribute to Bangladesh’s rich handloom heritage, particularly the
intricate Jamdani weave, showcasing the hard work and craftsmanship of the
weavers.
The music video for Tati is vibrant and colourful too. Performers are
dressed in Jamdani and other handloom textiles, with support from the clothing
brand, Thread.
The song itself is a fusion of Bangladeshi folk music and Western
sounds, incorporating traditional instruments like the sarangi and dotara,
along with Afrobeats. The rhythmic movements of handlooms set the tone for the
song, creating a unique and captivating musical experience.
Coke Studio Bangla Season 3 promises a total of 11 songs, with
music producers Pritom Hasan, Emon Chowdhury, Shuvendu Das Shuvo and Shayan
Chowdhury Arnob at the helm of affairs. The season continues to celebrate the
cultural richness of Bangladesh while pushing the boundaries of musical
creativity. Don’t miss.
