We all know of Bear Grylls as the British trooper, who taught his viewers how to survive in the wild by hook or by crook… almost literally. But how many of us knew him as a piano player? Well, recently the survival expert took to Instagram to share a snippet of himself playing Wonderful Tonight on a piano. In his caption, he says, “When backstage at some of these big venues there is often a piano… I never got lessons as a kid but I love to tinker around and pretend I’m @eltonjohn!”
While singing an Eric Clapton song, feeling like Elton John must feel like a new level of high. Why, you may ask. This year Sir Elton John took home the Outstanding Variety Special (live) Emmy for Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium. Winning this award meant completing his EGOT status which is a rare achievement of winning all four of the most prestigious awards in television, music, film and Broadway: an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, respectively.
While Sir Elton John still climbs up the glam ladder even after decades, My Kolkata recommends a couple of his old classics:
Your Song - This classic ballad reflects on the passage of time and the enduring nature of love.
. Candle in the Wind - Originally written as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe and later adapted for Princess Diana, this song reflects on the fleeting nature of fame and life.
. Someone Saved My Life Tonight - This song delves into Elton John’s struggles and reflects on how a pivotal moment saved him from a wrong path.
