Pujo is incomplete without the voice of our
favourites. And Anindya Chatterjee’s voice is one that defined the turn of the
century and the decade ahead for us. This is what he said when My Kolkata
caught up with him.
“Pujo is all
about songs floating in from the para’r mic and worn down amplifiers.
I’ve grown up listening to Bengali songs during Pujo. One special song
which will always be a favourite of mine is O Mor Moyna Go. A beautiful
Salil Chowdhury composition adorned by Lata Mangeshkar’s voice. I would ask
people to revisit this song, which was way ahead of its time,” Anindya
suggested. Tune in to the song here.
Another song which
Anindya Chatterjee suggests is Duniya Dot Com from their 2001 album Chaw.
“I remember it was playing at every pandal across town. It was a mantra,
which we converted into a song. This is another song we could revisit as we
usher in the mood on Mahalaya.”
Chandrabindoo will also
be performing in Kolkata and other cities, this, Pujo across multiple venues.
“I wish all MK readers and our fans a very happy Pujo ahead filled with love
and warmth,” Anindya added.
