The melody, Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da has different meanings
for people, depending on which part of the world they come from. For the West,
it reminds them of the iconic song by The Beatles from their 1968 eponymous
album, written by Paul McCartney. But for those of us in India, it reminds us
of the violin-wielding dreamy Shah Rukh Khan from Pardes, making Kumar
Sanu’s voice come alive.
Our favourite Instagram
creator couple, Mango and Basil aka @aamandbasil brought this cultural
contradiction to light in their latest Instagram reel, where the Italian wife
was overcome with the desire to listen to Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, only for
her unassuming husband to do the iconic SRK hookstep. The disgust on her face
was in sharp contrast to his devotion to King Khan, making us go #rofl.
Which song comes to your mind when you hear Ob-La-Di,
Ob-La-Da?
