Sunday Classics: Have you tried Nahoum’s classic triangle samosas?
These bites have been on the Jewish bakery’s menu since 1902

New Market’s quaint Jewish bakery Nahoum & Sons’ stellar line-up of sweets and savouries has quite a fan following across the length and breadth of Kolkata. The self-effacing triangle samosa is a savoury item on the bakery’s menu that merits exploration, but often goes unnoticed. The three-sided triangular parcels are punctuated with mince, crunchy onions and green chillies. They’re enveloped in a crispy, golden-hued shell that lends a bit of a crunch to each bite before the succulent mix explodes! Try these with breakfast, as a mid-day snack or lay them out as an accompaniment to a dinner spread.
These delightful pockets are only available in the mornings (they’re made in small batches and run out instantly!) so be there by 11 am if you want to grab a thonga of samosas.
