Gurpurab is a sacred day for Punjabis around the world. It is a ritual for many to wake up early on Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary, visit the Gurudwara and enjoy some kada prasad on this day. Nimrat Kaur likes to bring the celebrations home, and the actress took to Instagram to share her very own kada prasad recipe with fans. Nimrat’s maternal grandfather prepared halwa at a Gurudwara for many years, and her mother learnt from him, until Nimrat herself learnt the recipe from her mother.
The reel shows how Nimrat takes great pride in keeping this family tradition alive, as her two cats adorably watch. The process of preparing the halwa is an arduous one, with The Lunchbox actor even breaking for a short coffee run in the middle. However, the end is sweet, as Nimrat remarks, ‘Home is where the halwa is’!
