There are very few things in this world as a comforting bowl of warm halwa during the winters. Instagram’s myheartdough — Avani has created a simple Badam Halwa recipe that you can whip up today itself. Here’s the recipe:
Ingredients:
- Almonds - 1 cup
- Milk - 3/4th cup
- Ghee - 1 cup
- Raw sugar - 3/4 cup
- Water - 3/4 cup
Method:
- Soak the almonds overnight in lukewarm water and peel to make an almond paste by blending the almonds with the milk in a mixer.
- Add the ghee in a kadhai or a curved pan on medium to low heat. Add the almond paste and keep mixing it to avoid sticking and burning. It usually takes 25-30 mins.
- Eventually the paste will turn a beautiful golden brown colour. At this point, turn the gas to lowest, add the water and keep mixing.
- After a minute, add the sugar and continue to mix.
- Keep mixing on medium to low heat until a thick consistency is formed.
- You can add kesar and chopped almonds for added flavour and texture.
