When Ranveer Brar talks about food or food traditions, you
know it’s going to be a good one. The chef effortlessly narrates stories of
cuisine that keep you engaged and leave you a little more informed. In a recent
video podcast on YouTube, he delved into the unique story of Kashmiri breads,
exploring not only the culture of bread consumption in Kashmir but also
breaking down each variety.
He describes the tradition of the tandoor, explaining how
locals gather to buy and enjoy different breads based on the changing
temperature of the tandoor. “As the temperature of the tandoor falls
accordingly, different breads are baked,” he wrote, explaining that Kashmiris
eat bread throughout the day. He then listed and explained the different unique
breads, like Girda, Kashmiri Doughnuts, Baqerkhani, Katlam and more. After
going into details Ranveer ended the video by saying, “In Kashmir, you never
waste heat when you get it.”
