Akashvani, India’s national public radio broadcaster, is celebrating India’s upcoming presidency of the G20 Summit with informative and entertaining programs across the country. This led to Akashvani Kolkata managing the Bengal chapter, organising events in the city and districts. The drama department is set to hold a seminar and drama fest at GD Birla Sabhagar, titled Natronirjhor, on August 5, featuring the Mamata Shankar and Paran Bandopadhyay, both Akashvani drama veterans, who will be performing a srutinatak. Jagannath Basu, Urmimala Basu and Kharaj Mukhopadhayay will also perform, addressing G20-related themes. Previously, college and university campuses hosted a bunch of quizzes and extempore competitions as part of the youth connect initiative, with participants from Calcutta University, St. Xavier’s University, Jadavpur University, and Rabindra Bharati University. The winners of these quizzes will be recognised at the event while Subhro Kamal Mukhopadhyay, former chief justice and vice chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University, will deliver a keynote on G20-Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. Playwright and economist Ujjwal Chattopadhayay will also make an appearance to speak about sustainable finance.
