Cricket is an emotion for the people of the subcontinent, and when rivals like India and Pakistan take on each other on the big stage, the level of excitement goes through the roof! One of the greatest joys of sport is supporting your team with your friends, and enjoying the game together… along with good food, drinks and an electric ambience, of course! So, here are some places in the city where you can head to, catch the live stream of the big match and hit the evening for a six with your gang:
Multiplexes
There are a number of multiplexes around the city that will be showing the India-Pakistan match on the big screen, including Inox, Cinepolis and PVR halls. Tickets can be booked online.
Five Mad Men
This Salt Lake Sector V sports bar boasts of ‘one of the largest pub screens in the country’ and hosts matches and live gigs from time to time. “Today is an important match and we cannot even accommodate all the people here,” said Sayan Roy, who is one of the ‘five mad men’. “We also include the commentary, which gives the stadium feeling that people look for,” he said. They will also be streaming the Mohun Bagan Vs East Bengal Durand Cup match after that. So, drop in for the best of sports tonight!
Shisha Bar Stock Exchange
This iconic pub at 22 Camac Street is the Friday night go-to for live music! But they also will also be screening this highly anticipated match. Folks can enjoy the blockbuster game along with grub like Anda Bhurjee and Keema Pao, and beer buckets. “We have a beer bucket deal today, along with lip-smacking food and the perfect high-energy ambience,” said owner Shivangi Bhambani. It’s also being streamed at The Factory Outlet, from the house of Shisha on the same floor.
Tribe, Golpark
Tribe has a menu as diverse as the shots in Rishabh Pant's repertoire, and all the branches host many musical or literary events. Co-founder Shilpa Chakraborty said, “Many families like to come here and watch matches.” It is a more quaint vibe, but one sure to explode as the sixes start to rain.
Effingut
Effingut, on 24, Park Street, is stepping up their game, (just like we hope Team India will!), for the greatest rivalry in cricket. “Those looking to drop in, remember to wear your jerseys and cheer loudly because Effingut will give free shots whenever our Indian superstars score 4 or 6 runs,” says Ujjal Adhikary, city general manager at Effingut. Folks can also enjoy craft beer with delicious tapas, Kolkata Chinese and many other platters.
Canteen Pub & Grub
This Salt Lake dineout is one of the city’s favourite hotspots, and likes to host events including their famous Sunday Sundowners. They will screen the Asia Cup match as India and Pakistan go head to head! Drop in and cheer for the Men in Blue!
