Mama Miso’s laidback, warm vibe is a far cry from the stuffiness associated with new Asian dining. It’s trendy, it’s chic, it’s fun modern Asian dining with an eclectic open kitchen.

The 58-cover restaurant is located at the 25-year-old Heritage Village Resort & Spa in the quiet town of Cansaulim in south Goa, and a 25-minute drive from the airport. The 97-room heritage resort under Select Group India, draws inspiration from Goan-colonial architecture with its whitewashed facade, terra-cotta tiled roof, stained-glass windows and courtyard pool.
The indoor-outdoor combo makes Mama Miso just the destination for a quick lunch, a leisurely afternoon or an evening sundowner with friends. The al-fresco dining and the convenience of the garden across inspires cocktails, a round of small plates and some great conversation. The less-populated Arossim Beach is a pebble’s throw away from the restaurant.
The carefully curated menu offers an array of Asian-inspired classics with emphasis on popular Asian street food culture. “This was the right time to launch Mama Miso with business picking up in the hospitality sector. Asian was our go-to choice because there is no dedicated Pan-Asian restaurant in south Goa,” said Guitry Velho, general manager of Heritage Village Resort & Spa.
Some of the signature dishes include (in picture) Sushi Platter and Korean Beef Bulgogi. A special focus on small plates such as Honey & Chilli Crispy Lotus, Rock Shrimp Tempura and Miso Grilled Vegetables creates a sense of sharing. For dessert, tuck into a #hotmess of Fried Sesame Wonton Strips with Vanilla Ice Cream or a sleek slice of Matcha Mousse.“The fish-loving folk of Bengal and Goa have many similarities. We have a mustard fish curry made Bengali-style that features on the in-room menu,” said Vikram Gupta, the head of Food and Beverage at Mama Miso. Mehak Sachdeva, the head of marketing mentioned, "Just within a week of opening, the restaurant has received a great response from locals and tourists alike."
The bar serves up a selection of Asian beers and sake and some great cocktails! The signature cocktail is (L) Wabi Sabi, a combination of Greater Than Gin, cucumber juice and wasabi paste.
On the evening of February 26, Mama Miso was officially launched with a party attended by My Kolkata. A few familiar faces from Goa’s influential circle including Savio Messias, past president of Travel & Tourism Association of Goa, model and Kolkata girl Nakita Tania Fernandes, TTAG president Nilesh Shah, Harshvardhan Bhatkuly from Business Goa magazine and Mario Sequeira, owner, Tonia.
