Catering to the growing demand for banqueting facilities in the city, Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata has added a feather in their cap with a brand new space called Ozone Convention Centre — a multipurpose venue that will take care of events of various sizes and kinds, from weddings to corporate functions. The centre has seven floors but the banqueting space is spread across a massive 20,000sq ft (three floors). The place blends classic with contemporary in its interiors. “We are delighted to introduce yet another exceptional venue for the patrons of the city. Keeping in mind the consumer’s preferences and the growing demand for curated events, the hotel’s team of professionals will advise and assist in planning the perfect wedding or corporate event of any size, ensuring flawless execution and turnkey solutions. Empress Hall is located on level four and is a perfect spot for weddings. There is a certain warmth in this zone that is a result of a warm colour palette of brown, copper and beige in the interiors, accentuated by stunning chandeliers. A sweeping 4,750sq ft space boasts of a segregated pre-function area where the food can be laid out for guests. So if you are someone who intends to have live counters but don’t want the food smell inside the banquet, this section is for you.

Located on the level above the Empress Hall is Monarch Hall that is spread across a sprawling 6,315sq ft space and is done up in hues of blue, brown and beige. This space has a very neo-classic set-up with urli lights. Ideal for a reception or sangeet, this section offers a stunning view of the city skyline thanks to the floor-to-ceiling glass walls that also allow plenty of natural lights to pour in. The seating is posh and sleek and can pack in around 500 guests.

Regent Terrace is just perfect for your cocktail nights and special events, especially if you have a winter wedding. The terrace has been designed as an open space with clean finishing and impact lighting for outdoor events. This serves as a blank canvas for event planners to curate themed parties and events.

There’s also bridal and groom suite located a floor below Empress Hall where the duo can get ready or chill. “Usually we have seen rooms for the bride but why not the groom? We decided to offer the groom also some pamper section,” said Abhishek.

Owner Speak

“The prime intent was to provide an all-encompassing solution for Indian weddings and thus offer three separate venues under one roof, serving different purposes for wedding functions. While Empress Hall reflects tradition and royalty, Monarch Hall has a contrasting modern touch and the open-air venue, Regent Terrace, serves as a blank canvas for guests to bring their imagination to life in curating their dream weddings. The best available audio-video technology has been incorporated in the venues to not only cater to conferencing and MICE requirements but also to webcast weddings, which was an emerging trend observed during the pandemic. Last but not the least, the USP of these venues lies in its location, being adjacent to Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata, which is our primary offering in the city. Shriram Ozone Group wanted to build on its synergies with Marriott International by adding these premium convention facilities to its current offering and thereby launch the Ozone Convention Centre,” said Nityanand Sonthalia, managing director, Shriram Ozone Group.

F&B

“Food is no longer categorised as just Indian food because regional food has come up big time. There is so much of food from across regions in the country. Fusion food is big. In international cuisines, Mexican food by our chef Arabinda (Seth) does great, Italian... everyone wants truffle in almost everything, then we have great Mongolian,” explained Abhishek. We sampled a special menu and here’s what we liked.

We started the meal with some refreshing salads but our fave was the chickpeas, fusilli served with orange, cherry tomatoes, olives with vinaigrette dressing that were loaded in flavours.

Indulge in the local flavours of shorshe bekti in this delicious Sarsowali Kolkata Bhetki, that comes with jhuri aloo bhaja and a very off-beat Chocolate and Chilli Brown Rice Risotto.

Baked Rosogolla was dipped in white chocolate and caramelised on top. Simply put, delicious!

Dig into the mild and subtle flavours of Gondhoraj Tiger Prawns in coconut curry sauce, served with saffron rice. This got us drooling!
