Life-size mobile figures of sea creatures such as sharks, dolphins and even an octopus around a massive pirate ship greet visitors to Acropolis this festive season. The installation titled Ocean World is a part of the mall’s eighth anniversary celebrations. Merlin Group chairman Sushil Mohta said Ocean World will help educate and entertain children and even adults about marine life. The showpiece will be on display till the start of January
All photographs by Soumyajit DeyAcropolis has been an amazing spot for children to enjoy a day out and that was the case on December 9 when 25 children from Dhapa came to the mall for a drawing competition on the topic Ocean World, these underprivileged schoolchildren probably didn't know much about oceans and the creatures within had a wonderful time looking at Ocean World and drawing inspiration from there on to their sheets of paper. Actress Shonalee Choudhuri, who came down to hand out the winners prizes, said: “I’ve seen this concept of Ocean World abroad but to have something like this on display here in a mall like Acropolis is really exciting for me. I’m sure these children would also be very excited to see these creatures moving”
Simbaa Playzone is a huge plus at Acropolis for parents with children from the ages of 1 to 10 as their child can have a good time swinging around or climbing or even enjoy a good slide straight into a ball pool. “Most weekends are spent in malls and Simbaa is a spot we come to often for our child. The children have a lot of fun and we can just relax while they enjoy. Most birthday parties are held in play areas now so that is a plus,” said a mother, while watching her child have a gala time. Simbaa Playzone is open from 11am to 10pm and your child could either play for 30 mins at Rs 400, Rs 600 for an hour or Rs 1,000 for 2 hours. Simbaa also hosts children’s birthday parties with in-house catering
Timezone is another place for children to have fun and immerse themselves in video games of all kinds. While there are your classic car or bike racing games, shooting games and air hockey, the basketball hoop and all the other machines there are a lot of fun as well. More of a place where teenagers would hang out with friends, Timezone is open from 11am to 10pm with a minimum recharge of Rs 600 for your old or new card
At the ground floor, you may find little remote control cars and bikes for children to ride. Your little one can also enjoy a ride in a sports car or a racing bike for just Rs 100 for two rides and Rs 200 for five rounds. The rides are completely safe and while your child may feel that they are controlling the car, it is operated by someone with a remote control. Another activity to try the next time you are at Acropolis with your children between the ages of 1 and 12 with a maximum weight of 30kg. Open from 11am-10pm
