When it comes to letting your hair down and having a good time, Moodbox — situated on the first floor of Eco Suite Business Tower, New Town — can be the go-to place! The interiors are dominated by elegant and regal shades of black and gold, and contain structures heavily inspired from the parametric concept, where the relation between each design element is balanced by algorithm.
Divided into an indoor and an outdoor area, the plush light-green sofas and the high-chairs exude a modern minimalistic style. With a seating capacity of 80 people and being spread over an area of 3,000sq ft, in the afternoon it is a restaurant where you can have laid-back conversations, and by evening it turns into a party den for dancing the night away.
“The main concept behind curating the menu for Moodbox was to give my own little twist to some classic dishes known to all. Having lived abroad for four years made me realise that I want to highlight typical Bengali flavours and ingredients like kacha lonka, mustard seeds or pickles and bring them to the fore by creating a fusion of sorts. My mother’s recipes have been of great inspiration to me in this journey and I am expecting patrons to have a delightful experience here,” said Chef Srijan Biswas.

The bar is hands-down the coolest spot in the pub, with the parametric designs making for an aesthetic background where you can strike a pose, drink in hand.
“It took almost nine months for Moodbox to come about and we have tried to focus on the parametric interiors which were quite the challenge and have not been done in Calcutta. Along with EDM acts during the weekend, we also plan on hosting some live music gigs. We are expecting the venue, interiors and our reasonably priced menu, among other things, to attract many. Moodbox is going to be all about creating a happy, chill vibe and we cannot wait for Calcuttans to experience it,” said Anish Jaiswal (left) and Umesh Sharma of Moodbox.
