On Monday morning, Vicky Kaushal touched down in Kolkata. The actor is in town to shoot portions of his film Sam Bahadur, where he portrays the daredevil officer Sam Manekshaw, the chief of the army staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, and the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal.

Looking cool and casual in black tee and black trousers with a grey jacket and sporting a cap and sunglasses, Vicky flashed his usual warm smile at fans at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport.
The actor, 34, will shoot for the biopic, directed by Meghna Gulzar, at the Barrackpore Cantonment and also possibly at Fort William. Vicky’s look as Manekshaw, complete with a salt-and-pepper moustache, that was released earlier, has been much appreciated. Vicky will probably be in the city for a week. The film also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who made their debut with Aamir Khan’s Dangal. Meghna and Vicky have previously worked together in the much-feted Raazi, also starring Alia Bhatt.
On Sunday, Vicky and his co-stars Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar unveiled the trailer of their film Govinda Naam Mera in Mumbai,that streams on Disney+Hotstar from December 16.
