Multi-disciplinary artist Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee is all set to curate a musical evening, Chup Kothar Gaan, featuring several artistes from the city’s music circle, including the likes of Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Rohit Dey, Shibasish Banerjee and Shovan Ganguly, at Satyajit Ray auditorium in ICCR, on Wednesday.
“There is a connect between silence and the unspoken. The entire idea was to celebrate the unspoken that lies in the innermost core of our mind and we are going to talk about the subjects that get lost in dialogue. Some songs are not just songs. They lie within us,” said Chatterjee.
Speaking on the upcoming show’s non-linear narrative nature, Chatterjee added, “The name Chup Kothar Gaan has been chosen, keeping in mind the unspoken narrative. This evening we will have only one musician, which is Shibasish; we do not have anybody else because we believed that we wanted to use the silence of the notes too. In Western classical music, silence is a note. The entire event is a homage to silence, the unspoken, the subject that we speak through the art.”
The artists, in their individual capacities, will perform on varied compositions. From Rabindra Sangeet to John Denver, Shankar-Jaikishan, Anjan Dutt to ghazal, the audience will be treated to a soulful evening like never before.
Advertising Club Calcutta and The Bhowanipur Education Society College are presenting the show.
