Neeraj Chopra, the first Indian athlete ever to win an Olympics gold, landed in Kolkata late on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old champion is scheduled to attend a felicitation and a private programme in the city on Wednesday.
The javelin champion has been the toast of the country ever since he made history at the Tokyo Olympics last month.
While this is Neeraj's first visit to Kolkata since his golden feat, he has already left an indelible imprint on the city's biggest annual celebration — Durga Puja.
For, Neeraj's moment of glory has powered ahead of several other popular events of the year to be among the most celebrated feats at Durga Puja pandals this time.
So, come October and there will be a Neeraj here and a Neeraj there as the city sprouts Puja pandals everywhere, with many saluting the javelin hero through lighting and motifs.
