Aditya Majumdar is on a musical spree. In March, the alumnus of Calcutta International School released his first EP Damage Control, which encapsulated his feelings of self-doubt and heartbreak. And just two months after that he is ready to drop a new EP, Silver Town. “In the new EP, Silver Town, which will be released on June 8, I’ve written about my life experiences but generalised them hoping it’s relatable for the audience. It’s about how delusion often works as a coping mechanism and how it might not be the best. I have used a very different approach to recording this time, incorporating and experimenting with several natural sounds like rain or street noise,” said Aditya, who has been part of musical ensembles since the age of 14.

Aditya’s music varies from Indie to pop to acoustic folk to rock and blues. He likes incorporating riffs of guitar in his songs and one can experience it in both his EPs. His influences range from Bon Jovi to John Mayer and Amyt Datta to Coldplay. Apart from playing with his band Waiting List, he has also performed solo at many locations in India and abroad. “With Waiting List I would play frequently as a guest performer at college and school fests. We have played at venues like Gitanjali Stadium. And with my solo project I would frequently play at ITC Royal Bengal, Cafe Mezzuna and Miss Ginko. I have also played as a guest performer at school and college fests for my solo project and also at a few venues in Amsterdam, like the Zoku, and in Singapore, like Warehouse,” said Aditya who will be joining the prestigious Berklee College of Music soon, to fulfil his dreams of making a career in music.

The 19-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist seems unstoppable as he already has new songs lined up till August. “I have another EP lined up for early June, a single for late June/early July, an album for August and then I’m headed to Berlin come September to study music. Other than that I have many gigs lined up and my Instagram page is a good place to stay updated with my music,” signs off Aditya.
