‘Chalchitra’ refers to the Debi ‘chal’ or Durga ‘chala’, the background of the Durga ‘pratima’ (idol). The main content of the ‘chalchitra’ are stories from the Puranas. It talks about Shiv-Parvati, Kali, Mahishasurmardini and Dashabatar among others
