Debanjan Deb, who is accused of organising fake vaccine camps and was chargesheeted on Thursday, was produced in a court in Kolkata on Friday in connection with one of the 10 criminal cases pending against him.
Deb’s police remand was extended till September 8 in connection with a cheating and forgery case, which was registered with New Market police station.
In the case, Deb is accused of fraudulently opening a bank account in the name of the Calcutta Municipal Corporation, defence lawyer Dibyendu Bhattacharya said. Deb was arrested in June after he was allegedly caught organising a fake vaccination camp in Kasba in south Kolkata. Subsequently, multiple allegations had emerged against him. Altogether, 10 FIRs have been registered against him.
Five injured after bike-borne men hurl bombs in Kamarhati
Two women and a child were among five persons injured after bike-borne men allegedly hurled bombs near a Trinamul office in Kamarhati on the northern fringes of Kolkata on Thursday evening.
The injured were rushed to Sagar Dutta hospital. The condition of two of them was critical, doctors said.
The incident took place close to a police outpost on the northern fringes of Kolkata. A team of senior officers led by Manoj Verma, the police commissioner of Barrackpore, inspected the spot on Thursday night.
