Author Amitav Ghosh is back with his much-awaited new read Smoke and Ashes: A Writer’s Journey Through Opium’s Hidden Histories and as expected it has created the right buzz among bibliophiles. The author of the Iblis trilogy continues the fascinating story of the opium trade and its effects in Britain, India and China, with his latest outing. He reached out to his fans, young and old, with book signing sessions at two bookstores in the city. While a serpentine queue greeted Ghosh at Starmark, South City Mall, a small gathering at Storyteller Bookstore, Ballygunge made the book signing session more intimate.
