Fresh beginnings.

One person who springs to your mind when we talk about this season?

Hush hush! It is a secret.

Which phase in your life so far would you compare to spring and why?

Spring is all about fresh beginnings, about blooming. I think, for me, it started just after Maacher Jhol’s release back in 2017 and it is still on. It got me recognition and marked my fresh start in this industry. People’s love is still coming my way...

You are quite a travel freak. Is there any other place except Kolkata where you have witnessed this season that is etched in your memory?

We went to Santiniketan once and it is beautiful in spring. But Kolkata is beautiful too. It is the time of Saraswati Puja, Valentine’s Day, it is the time of love. And, of course, Holi, the festival of colours.

Do you have any special plans in store for this spring?

I will be very busy this spring. My spring started with my childhood best friend getting married. That’s the best thing ever. Two of my other friends are also getting married. There are many weddings, Saraswati Puja and some exciting projects also coming up.

What dominates your spring wardrobe?

Florals.

What hues do you mostly choose for your outfits and make-up this season?

I like fuchsia, neon and pop colours or pastel shades.

Do you have any special memory of this season from your growing up years?

Has to be my memories of Saraswati Puja. I remember, I was in my tuition and suddenly my mother called me and said that we will all do Saraswati Puja together. We used to not do it at our house. Beside our house, I have my grandmother’s house and our cousins and I, we started doing our own Saraswati Puja for the first time and this is going to be our seventh or eighth year but ever since that I think Saraswati Puja has been something I always look forward to. All my friends come and then we go to have lunch.

If you had to define your personality with one season, which one would you choose and why?

(Laughs) I think I am spring-summer. I can be the dangerous Kalbaishakhi storm of the summer months and I can also be the soothing spring breeze... depends on the person.

Spring is also synonymous to new beginnings. What new beginnings are waiting for you in the professional and personal front this year?

Each day can be a new beginning. I am in talks with a couple of people related to work but I can’t divulge it now.

Since last year you have been travelling to Bombay for work and in a recent interview to The Telegraph you revealed that professionally you are expanding your horizon by collaborating with national platforms for various web series. What kind of roles are you looking forward to exploring ?

I love my job. I don’t want to put myself within any boundary. Of course nationally, and some amazing stuff is happening in the South too. So whatever appeals to my artistic and creative beliefs I will go for that as long as the content is good. I would like to do films that portray women the way they are. I would want to do something that helps me grow, that people can relate to.

Speaking of new beginnings, has there been any new beginning on the romantic front in the recent past?

Spring is the season of love and it has the festival of colours too, but given my romantic record, my love life is still colourless. I have not been going around painting the town red (laughs).
