Several traffic restrictions will be in place in and around Park Street on New Year’s Eve and the first day of 2023.

Traffic restrictions
Park Street will open to both-way traffic from 2am on Sunday. It will remain one-way till then. Traffic on the adjoining roads — Theatre Road, Camac Street and Middleton Street — will be regulated to one-way. Police said traffic restrictions could be imposed on Park Street, Camac Street, Free School Street, Wood Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, Middleton Street, Little Russell Street, Russell Street, Kyd Street and Royd Street depending upon the volume of traffic.
The police said no parking of vehicles would be allowed on these roads on Saturday. As many as 3,000 cops will be deployed in and around Park Street for night duty on December 31.
Weather
The current cold phase will continue on the last day of the year and the first day of the New Year, an official of the Alipore Met office said.
The ongoing cold weather would continue at least for the next four or five days, the official said.
“There could be a 1-degree drop in the minimum temperature on Saturday in comparison with Friday,” said an official of the Met office. The minimum temperature recorded on Friday was 14.4 degree Celsius.
Tipple tale
Liquor will available in bars and restaurants till 3am and star hotels till 5am. Retail liquor shops will be open till 11pm.
Drink driving
The police said there would be an extra vigil to curb drink-driving in the city. You may expect to face cops once you step out of a pub or a night club and may be asked to undergo breathalyser test.
Metro services
Metro will run 234 train services on Saturday, like any other weekday.
The first train from Kavi Subhas and Dum Dum Metro stations will start at 6.50am and at 7am from Dakshineswar Metro station.
The last train service from Kavi Subhas and Dum Dum Metro stations are scheduled at 9.40pm and the last service from Dakshineswar Metro station will be at 9.28pm.
