Treaty of Deogaon was concluded between East India Company and Raghuji Bhonsle II, on this day

On this day the Treaty of Deogaon was concluded between the East India Company and Raghuji Bhonsle II, the Maratha king of Berar. This, together with the Treaty of Surji-Arjungaon concluded on December 30, 1803, announced the end of the first phase of the Second Maratha War (1803-05).

With the Treaty of Deogaon, Raghuji Bhonsle ceded Cuttack and Balasore in Orissa to the East India Company, which made the British Indian territory continuous between Calcutta and Madras.
