The students appearing for CBSE exam will have to write the correct response in capital letters on the OMR sheet, the board said in a circular on Monday.

Observers, who come from another school to conduct the examination and invigilators will have to see that responses are given by candidates in capital A, B, C and D and if not it should be corrected, the circular says.

This change is to be followed from December 7 till the end of the examination.

The board said that during evaluation it was found that sometimes the evaluators were not able to differentiate between the small letters and the process was taking more time.

In the OMR sheet a box is provided to students for writing the correct letter from the four options.

“It is...directed that the examinations to be conducted from 7th December, 2021 to till the end, in the OMR options will be marked by the candidates in capital A, B, C and D as per the correct response,” says the circular from Central Board of Secondary Education.

The board said since the decision was being taken in the midst of the examinations the centre superintendents (usually the principal or head of the school) are requested to take some actions to follow this.

The centre superintendents are to intimate all the assistant superintendents to announce the instructions and invigilators will check during invigilation “that all the candidates are giving responses in capital A, B, C, and D”, the board has said.
