Rani Surana, 40, was found lying in a pool of blood with her left wrist slashed inside a washroom.

A team from the airport police station of the Bidhannagar Commissionerate went to the flat after being alerted about the blood.

“Surana was once a bar dancer but had left work around 15 years ago. Her husband or partner lives in Bangalore. She used to stay alone,” said an officer.

The three-storey building where Surana lived is located in a residential area. She used to stay on the first floor.

“A family member of the owner told us that Surana had gone to their floor in the morning. She had spotted an injury on Surana’s hand, but did not think much of it,” said the officer.

No suicide note was found.
