The city was cloudy on Sunday morning and the conditions were breezy.

But the winds came from Northeast, not from Kashmir. As a result, the Celsius went up.

The city has seen a rise in the Celsius over the past few days. But the rise is temporary and another dip is likely this week, said Met officials.

On Sunday, the minimum temperature was 19.2 degrees Celsius. On November 14, the mercury had slid to 17.5 degrees. It was the coldest November 14 in nine years.

“There is a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, northeasterly winds are entering coastal areas like Kolkata. They lack the bite of the northwesterly winds from Kashmir,” said a Met official. The northeasterly winds have stalled the flow of northwesterly winds.
