Why no mask? ‘Covid not that dangerous,’ says man at New Market
Kolkatans continue to be averse to wearing masks. The Telegraph spoke to some of them to figure out why

A man in New Market was happily without a mask despite being in a crowded place. “This time Covid is not that dangerous, so there is no reason to be so tensed,” he said.

Two men were walking down the street in Park Circus, neither wearing a mask. “We do not wear a mask when we are in our neighbourhood. We wear one only when we step out of our locality,” said the one in blue jacket. The other agreed silently.
A woman in Beleghata who was walking with a pedestal fan said she was going to a shop nearby to get the fan repaired. “The shop is close by, so I didn’t wear a mask. I will go and return home straightaway,” she said.
A man at the Park Street-Jawaharlal Nehru Road crossing said he had removed the mask to tidy his dress. “I will wear it after I am done,” he said, and so he did.
