The West Bengal government has revoked all Covid-19 related restrictions from April 1.

In a notification issued from Nabanna, on Thursday, the government said that the curbs are being withdrawn “in view of the overall decline in total caseload and positivity rate and overall improvement in the situation”.

The withdrawal of the restrictions came almost two years after the pandemic struck in March 2020.

“However advisory in respect of health and hygiene protocols including wearing of masks at all times, hand hygiene and sanitisation of public places shall continue to be strictly observed until further orders”, the notification stated.

The notice undersigned by the chief secretary further stated that employers, management bodies, owners and supervisors of all offices will be held responsible for maintaining Covid safety measures and sanitisation of workplaces.

The notification has also directed district administrations, police commissionerates and local authorities to ensure strict compliance of Covid related health and hygiene.
