The state college service commission has uploaded the model answers of the state eligibility test (SET) held on January 9 and invited challenges from candidates to ensure transparency in the evaluation process, said an official of the commission.

The commission’s member secretary has asked candidates to visit www.wbcsc. org.in and www.wbcsconline.in for the SET question papers, answer keys and jumbling formula.

The exam is held to select assistant professors.

“The candidates are advised to carefully go through the question papers (Series X, Y & Z for paper — I and Series X and Y for paper II) and the answer keys. Answer keys for series X of all the subjects have been uploaded. The candidates are also advised to match the questions from the series attempted by them following the uploaded jumbling formula. The candidates may send their feedback, if required, at wbcscsetkeys2022@ gmail.com by 6th February, 2022 positively,” the notice said.

Under the jumbling formula, the questions are set in different orders so candidates sitting next to each other at an exam centre cannot consult one another.

Dipak Kar, the chairman of the commission, said the feedback from the candidates will be sent to subject experts and will be accepted if deemed fit.

“The final answer keys will be drawn up after we go through the responses. Immediately after the publication of results, the final answer keys will be uploaded so candidates can find out whether his or her challenges have been accepted. We want to make the evaluation process transparent,” he said.

The state primary education board had uploaded answer keys for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test (TET) held in January 2021, incorporating changes based on responses from candidates and then published the results early this month.

Why could the commission not do the same?

Kar told The Telegraph: “We are doing whatever has been fixed by the UGC. The commission cannot do anything on its own”.

The commission plans to publish the results by end-February or early-March.

The committee’s moderation and steering committees have to meet before that. “At the meeting, the commission has to produce before the UGC how many challenges were received and how many were found acceptable,” an official said.
