Jadavpur University will not hold its convocation this year, too, because of Covid and is planning to ask the graduating students to collect the degree certificates from their departments, a JU official said.
The university usually holds its convocation on December 24 at the open-air theatre on the campus.
The campus was shut last year as a precaution against Covid. This year the university has been conducting in-person classes since November 16.
“Despite resumption of in-person classes, we don’t think it will be advisable to hold the convocation on the campus. It will be difficult to manage the assembly,” he said.
Since the convocation could not be held last year, the certificates were distributed from February 8 to 22.
Another JU official said the university’s executive council would soon meet to decide how the certificates will be distributed to this year’s graduating students.
