VIP Road: Dum Dum Park subway inaugurated

The subway was a long-pending demand from the residents of Dum Dum Park area

On Friday (Panchami), the state fire minister, Sujit Bose, inaugurated the Dum Dum Park subway. Bidhannagar police commissioner, Gaurav Sharma and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The subway was a long-pending demand from the residents of Dum Dum Park area as they had to cross the hugely congested VIP road to take buses and autos in order to reach Ultadanga More or even come to Salt Lake.

The construction took some time and was also impacted due to the COVID pandemic. Finally, after day-night shifts the subway was completed at the expense of Rs 14 crore.

The surface path is about 52-meter long and around 6.5 meters wide. There are four escalators.

Speaking at the occasion, MLA and minister Sujit Bose said, “VIP Road is a very busy stretch and is accident-prone too. The subway is a Puja gift to the people of the area.”
