In order to facilitate Durga Puja revellers, two more pedestrian subways, one at Dum Dum Park crossing on VIP Road and another at City Centre II crossing are set to be operational by this weekend before the festivities begin. The Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (Hidco), which began working on the subway at City Centre II crossing since 2021, is now giving final touches to the structure.

The other pedestrian subway at Dum Dum Park crossing on VIP Road is being readied by the Public Works Department. Bidhannagar MLA and minister Sujit Bose said in all probability, the subway will be made operational before the pujas to benefit pandal hoppers at Sreebhumi. The PWD authorities had used advanced techniques to build this subway and traffic was not affected.

Earlier, the PWD authorities had set up two more subways at the Sreebhumi crossing on VIP Road and Golaghata in 2018.
