Two men arrested for bike theft from Behala and online sale

Cops recovered motorcycle from person who purchased it living at Paharpur Road in Garden Reach

Two persons, including a first-year BCA student of a city college, were arrested for allegedly stealing a motorcycle from southwest Kolkata’s Behala on Thursday and then selling it on an online trading portal.

Police said the theft of a Honda Dream Neo was reported at Behala police station on March 21. After CCTV footage analysis of the location from where the bike was stolen, the cops identified the suspects and raided their homes.

The two accused were identified as Rohit Kumar Singh, 25, of Diamond Harbour Road, in Ekbalpore and Ravi Sinha, 22, who lives in the railway quarters in New Alipore.

Singh is from Banka district of Bihar and works as a help in a tea shop and Sinha, whose father is an assistant sub-inspector in the Railway Protection Force, is a student at a college in Salt Lake.

“They said that they stole the bike and then sold it for Rs 24,000 through an online portal for pocket money,” said an officer.

The cops recovered the motorcycle from the person who purchased it. He lives at Paharpur Road in Garden Reach.
