The city sky is likely to remain clouded on Tuesday as well, the Met office has said.
“But the conditions are likely to be not as overcast as they were on Monday. The sun is tipped to come out, in the afternoon if not in the morning. The chances of rain are minimal,” said a Met official.
The sun stayed hidden behind a thick cloud cover for most of Monday. The cloud cover dragged the maximum temperature down to 23.9 degrees, a staggering six notches below what is normal for this time of the year. The minimum temperature was 20.4 degrees, normal.
The absence of the overhead sun dragged the maximum temperature down. Throughout the day, the conditions were damp and lent a hint of chill.
Several areas of the city got rain in the early hours of Monday and again in the afternoon.
The maximum temperature is likely to go up tomorrow as the sun comes out. But the minimum temperature is likely to dip below 20 degrees on Tuesday, according to the Met forecast.
The maximum temperature is likely to be in the range of 27-28 degrees and the minimum temperature in the range of 19 degrees, the Met official said.
“But because of a system near Andaman Sea, that is tipped to move towards the Andhra Pradesh coast, there will be some moisture incursion into south Bengal. That will be a hurdle in any substantial plunge in the minimum temperature,” he added.
