Two persons were killed after a truck overturned and crashed into a roadside eatery in West Bengal's Alipurduar district on Tuesday, police said.
The accident occurred on Asian Highway-48 at Choupathi in the Madarihat police station area.
The 12-wheeler truck, which was transporting urea from Assam to Siliguri, overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle, the police said.
The deceased were identified as Purna Arya, 48, and Rajkumar Barman, 55. They were at the eatery during the accident.
The bodies were recovered after the truck was removed with the help of five cranes, police said.
According to the West Bengal traffic police website, Alipurduar’s Madarihat police station area recorded another fatal accident on October 7. The accident had taken place on the Salamandol Choupathi state highway around 8.20pm.
