Soldiers who laid down their lives in the two World Wars and other conflicts were honoured at the Maidan Cenotaph on Sunday.
Diplomats, army officers and policemen gathered to commemorate Remembrance Sunday organised by the British deputy high commission here. “The act of remembrance is a defining part of the British identity.... It’s a very special occasion...,” said Nick Low, the British deputy high commissioner to Kolkata.
