Kolkata Traffic Police have posted about a programme that might affect the city traffic on Monday (18.04.2022).

  • 3pm: A procession may start near Indian Coffee House on Bankim Chatterjee Street and end in front of the Lenin statue, Esplanade. The likely route is along College Street, Nirmal Chandra Street, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road, SN Banerjee Road and Dorina crossing.

Lorry runs over pillion rider

A woman pillion rider was killed and the motorcyclist injured when a lorry hit the two­-wheeler on Nilgunge Road, near Dunlop, on Saturday night. Eyewitnesses have told cops the bike was headed towards Dunlop when the lorry hit it, flinging the riders off the two-wheeler. One of the wheels of the lorry ran over the pillion rider. Bystanders stopped the lorry and handed the driver to the police.
