A 32-year-old woman, Seikh Sarwari, was arrested in front of Ekbalpore Nursing Home on Saturday for allegedly plotting a man’s murder on July 9.
D. Marian had been found dead in his apartment in Ekbalpore on the evening of July 9. After his post-mortem report arrived, police realised he had been murdered.
The police said he had been throttled to death.
After interrogating Sarwari, the police rounded up two men — Md Tarique, of Moulana Mohammed Ali Road in Ekbalpore, and Kalu Das, of Karl Marx Sarani — for their alleged involvement in the murder.
“The three were arrested within a few hours. They have confessed to their involvement in the crime,” said an officer.
“We are on the lookout for another person,” he said.
During interrogation, the police said, Sarwari told them she paid Rs 15 lakh to Marian to purchase his ground-floor flat on MBG Lane in Kidderpore.
Marian allegedly refused to hand over the flat and did not return the money, Sarwari told the police.
She tried to recover the money for several weeks, after which she decided to kill the man, an officer said.
Sarwari allegedly hired Tarique and three others to kill Marian, the police said.
