The college and university teachers’ association of Bengal has written to the vice-chancellor of the West Bengal State University for the resumption of offline classes at the earliest following a dip in temperature, which prompted some universities to switch to in-person classes.
The university had issued a directive on April 29 stating that all classes be held online from May 2 both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The teachers said many students were resource-constrained and were unable to attend online classes.
“On behalf of our organisation we would like to request you to resume the offline classes at UG and PG level in all the different affiliated colleges as well as the university at the earliest. This is for your information that quite a few universities in our state have already shifted to offline mode because the severe heat wave has reduced to a considerable extent,” says the letter from the West Bengal College and University Teachers Association, addressed to the VC of the Barasat university, Mahua Das.
When asked about the letter, Das told The Telegraph: “We will announce our decision in a day or two.”
